You Are Doing Exactly What You Want to Be Doing
p. 221
You Are Doing Exactly What You Want to Be Doing Q: Ihave always thought of myself as aperson who was very serious about spiritual matters. Inever doubted that Iwanted to be Free, but my experience shows me again and again that Imust be fooling myself. This makes me think that I'm not as serious as Ithought 1was. This makes me think that maybe Idon’t know what I'm doing.
A: You always know what you are doing. Everyone knows exactly what they are doing. Q: So why don’t 1change?
A: Because you are not yet ready to change. Because you have not yet truly embraced the urgency of the human condition. Many people, in spite of having had deep spiritual experiences, still do not become deadly serious. They allow themselves to continue to fool themselves. They allow themselves to continue to live in the illusion of ignorance and bondage. Have no doubt that you are doing exactly what you want to be doing. 2 2 1 Your Whole Life Should Be aClear Reflection of What You Know to Be True Q: What has been plaguing me in my observations of my life is the pervasiveness of my hypocrisy. It drives me crazy. What Irecognize as true never comes out, never leaves my lips.
A: What comes out of your mouth should be aclear reflection of what you know to be true. But not only that—your whole life should be aclear reflection of what you know to be true. Q: When the outer is not areflection of what Iknow to be true Ifeel like ahypocrite.
A: The point is, are you living what you know? There is abig gap between what most seekers claim to have experienced at one time or another and the life that they lead. If you can’t live what you have experienced then you haven't realized it. If you truly have realized it then you have to live it. That is non-duality. When you have truly woken up and found out who you are the inner and the outer should be one and the same. 2 2 2
