What Is Renunciation?
p. 209
Q; What role does renunciation play in the. spiritual life?
A: Renunciation is the very essence of the spiritual life. Giving up everything in the way of perfect Liberation is the first part of renunciation. The second part of renunci¬ ation is making sure one does not ever begin to acquire anything that could in any way obscure that perfect Liberation. Realization is one thing, but keeping it is another matter. The spiritual life is alife of renunciation because to constantly achieve perfect success, one must abide in such acondition that absolutely nothing can be accumulated. Q: What does renunciation look like practically?
A: True renunciation is an inner matter. But outer renun¬ ciation often can serve to facilitate achange in perspective from one of constantly wanting to simply being. 2 0 9 r Deep Experiences Are Not Enough Deep Experiences Are Not Enough How Do IRelate This Experience to My Life?
