Enlightenment Is Where All Practice Is Supposed to Lead Q: Does waking up necessarily involve adiscipline or apractice?
A: Freedom only has to do with understanding. Always attached to adiscipline or apractice is alarge investment in the future. Any investment in the future is the very foundation of ignorance. The future always implies time and waking up means the realization of the end of time. Q; Ihave aspiritual practice and when Ido it 1experi ence some understanding. Are you saying it's useless?
A: What I’m saying is that Enlightenment is where all your practice is supposed to be leading. I’m saying realize that goal immediately. That is understanding. Then you will be released from the terrible burden of becoming— and that is Peace. Q: What then is meditation?
A: When you have recognized the truth of who you really are an explosion takes place. Suddenly the whole question of becoming is finished. The duality of bondage 6 8 versus liberation, samsara versus nirvana, no longer applies. That is when you discover what meditation is. When you are no longer concerned with overcoming anything or realizing anything, then meditation is spontaneous and effortless. r i - 6 9
