Introduction
It’s avery scary thing to say, “I want to he Free.” It can be very terrifying. It means that the ground from under you can fall away at any moment. Whenyou say, “I want to he Free,” and mean it, it’s the same as saying, “I’m ready to die.” It is avoluntary choice of death while you’re still alive. It changes everything. It’s just like committing suicide, because you are making a conscious choice. Iremember—in my case, Ihad been with my teacher for two weeks, and we were sitting quietly in his room when Isaid out loud, “I’m ready to die but Idon’t know how.” This was ashock to me —I Jumped. It just came out by itself. Irealized IhadtTt been thinking about it. Isaid again, “I’m ready to die but Idon’t hiow how.” This was areal declaration of death. It meant that Iwas ready to give up this life for another. Maybe you will be terrified. Iwas scared at the time, but it didn’t stop me.
