Everybody Wants to Get Enlightened but Nobody Wants to Change
p. 215
Everybody Wants to Get Enlightenec but Nobody Wants to Change Q: Ihave had fantastic spiritual episodes where Iwas convinced that Iwas Enlightened but soon discovered that Iwas far from it. This has happened several times. What went wrong?
A: The problem is that something hasn't happened. A leap has not yet been taken. Alot has been revealed, but the leap has not occurred. Fundamentally, identification is still with the mind. In spite of the fact that you have seen beyond your mind, there is still primarily identifi¬ cation with the mind. What hasn't happened is ashift to identification with that which has nothing to do with the mind. To be truly successful, this shift cannot be only atemporary interlude. It must be permanent and irreversible. You may have fantastic experiences, but they are usually not enough. Everybody wants to get Enlightened, but nobody wants to change. Ever)^body wants to have the experience of Enlightenment, the bliss of Enlightenment and the clarity of Enlightenment, but nobody really wants to change. They don't want to give up anything for that Enlightenment. Nobody wants to give up any of their 2 1 5 strongly held beliefs or their future. It is precisely because of this that most people, in spite of having fantastic spiritual episodes, do not really change. If you want to be Free, you must become so intoxicated with the direct experience of the Absolute Truth that nothing could possibly remain the same. 2 1 6 Right Action You Will See How Delicate It All Is W h a t D o e s I t M e a n t o B e S e r i o u s ?
