What Does It Mean to Be Perfect?
p. 42
Q: If aspiritual Teacher claims to be Enlightened, 1 expect him or her to be perfect.
A: Asupposedly Enlightened Teacher should be perfect. But what does it mean to be perfect? What is perfection all about? What does it mean to not only have entered the stream but to have drowned in the stream? That's some¬ thing that one has to go into. You have to find that out for yourself. But once you do find out, the life of your Teacher should represent that which you have discovered. 4 2 Abandon Every Idea Abandon Every Idea about Enlightenment N o I d e a God Is Not an Object to Be Seen Don't Be Satisfied with Imitation 4 5 Abandon Every Idea about Enlightenment In order to be successful in your quest for Freedom, it is imperative that you unconditionally abandon every idea that you have about Enlightenment. As long as you think that Enlightenment is something that can be understood by the mind, the cycle of blindly perpetuat¬ ing your own ignorance will never cease. 4 6 No Idea Q: Would this be an accurate description of Enlightenment: accepting the whole universe as yourself and loving the universe as yourself?
A: No, it would not. Having no idea about the universe and having no idea about yourself. That would be more like it. 4 7
