To Be Free Means to Understand

p. 127

In the deepest and most profound sense, what it is to be Free means to understand. This means knowing before cognition, before thought. The recognition of that is what being Free is. Thoughts and feelings come and go, but that knowing doesn't go anywhere. When you under¬ stand that knowing to be your own Self, prior to the entire universe, you will no longer care about coming and going. You will no longer draw any conclusions about who you are or who you're not. It is the discovery of this knowing alone that will set you Free. All wisdom flows from that. When everything disappears you will realize that indivisible, unchanging fact out of which everything arises. Knowing that and being rooted in that without effort and without choice is Liberation. It is from this knowing that you witness the whole drama of life. 1 2 7 old onto Nothing Realize Perfect Innocence Hold onto Nothing Cling Only to Freedom Alone Realizing Total Insecurity Is What the Goal Is 1 2 9
