p. 189

The strength of mind necessary to stay firmly in the pure intention to be Free is in the weak-minded lost quickly due to cowardice. Fear can dissolve all clarity objectivity and any possibility of knowing that perspec¬ tive which is absolutely true. The weak-minded are unable to recognize that in the face of Freedom fear is always and only temptation to doubt. Doubt is Maya's face revealing itself. It will always try and tempt the weak-minded to turn tail and run. Usually it succeeds. Very few have the clarity and purity of intention that is necessary to face the wall of fear that rises up. In the face of fear the weak-minded never doubt or question the fear itself. They are easily swayed by crude thoughts and strong feelings. They run terrified from the gates of Nirvana back into the hell of the limitation of their own mind. The weak-minded easily betray the heart because they lack the courage necessary to face the unknown. Without that courage they will lack the all-important dis¬ crimination necessary to discern the real from the unreal. Serious seekers for Freedom cannot run. They know they no longer have any choice. They know they will 1 8 9 face what must be faced, because they know they must succeed. These lucky few discover something very unexpected: Liberation in this birth. 1 9 0
