Compassion

p. 266

Q: In the search for and discovery of Enlightenment, where does compassion come in? A; Ideally in aplace that you will know absolutely nothing about. Many people are very ambitious. They want to be owners of this most precious virtue. They are very busy trying to cultivate it. Compassion is the natural and spontaneous result of Liberation. Enlightened compassion is owned by nobody and the compassionate one knows nothing about compassion. This kind of compassion is very powerful. It has nothing to do with ideas. If you want to be Enlightened forget about compassion. If you are up to it, seek Enlightenment. If you know you are not up to it, then help. Help all the suffering people in the world in apractical way. There is so much to be done. Either do something to help other people in apractical way or forget about everybody and seek Enlightenment. Do you understand? Do one or do the other. Stop thinking about compassion and start doing something for others or forget about everyone and Realize the source of all compassion. 2 6 6
