Readiness for Enlightenment Is True Innocence

p. 37

Readiness for Enlightenment I s T r u e I n n o c e n c e Q: What does it mean to be ready for Enlightenment? A; People are in different states of readiness and readi¬ ness for Enlightenment is true innocence. If there is true innocence it means that the ego will not be abig obstruc¬ tion to Liberation. We are born with this innocence and it is this very innocence in us that experiences the pain of separation. The awakening of Self-recognition is when this inno¬ cence recognizes itself as the Self and ego is recognized as non-Self. Under the weight of this Self-discovery the ego is seen as unreal. This is when the whole universe turns upside down and this is when all is revealed to be very different than it had seemed. Q: This frightens me.

A: Ego is the illusion of separateness that doesn't want to give up its illusion of separateness. Remember it is not the ego that longs to be Free. 3 7 who Is aTeacher? The Teacher Is an Outward Manifestation of Your Own Heart A P e r f e c t M i r r o r What Does It Mean to Be Perfect? 3 9
