It Is Detachment That Allows Us to Realize What Love Is
p. 165
It Is Detachment That Allows Us to Realize What Love Is It is detachment that allows us to realize what love is. I'm not speaking about the kind of love you feel for your children or the kind of love you feel for alover—I'm speaking about alove that is unbearable. The kind of love I'm speaking about will bring you to your knees. This love and detachment are synonymous. If you are unwilling to let go then this kind of love you cannot know. To be worthy of this kind of love you have to give up all your ideas and all your attachments. Love and death go together. If you want to know what love is you have to pay abig price for it. You have to die to the known. You have to die to your lover. You have to die to your children. You have to die to your friends. You have to die to the whole universe. Then y o u will find out what love is. Only then you will understand what detachment is all about. 1 6 5
