Surrender Means No Strategies W h a t s o e v e r Q: Ihave experienced what surrender means many times but Icontinually lose that understanding and find myself in the process of looking for it again and again.
A: The meaning of surrender transcends loss or gain, even of understanding. This is because surrender leads you beyond what you can understand directly to what you can know —but never understand. Beyond under¬ standing means beyond the mind, beyond the ego, beyond any reference. The acknowledgement, realization and acceptance of that which is beyond understanding is surrender. Surrender makes any strategy that the mind can come up with to take you beyond itself null and void. There is no strategy that can reach that which is beyond the mind except to cease with all strategies whatsoever. That is surrender. That which is always beyond the mind and ego is always the ultimate challenge for the mind and ego. This is why surrender is the ultimate challenge and it's from the perspective of that challenge that the whole drama of existence is profound and fascinating. 1 9 9
