Integrity Is Multidimensional T he spiritual process is an evolutionary one—a movement towards wholeness, a movement towards integrity. The expression of a liberated condition is integrity, in the most fundamental sense of the word, which means perfectly undivided. From an evolutionary point of view, the seeker is striving to realize their full humanity. They are trying to discover, come to terms with and ultimately be able to manifest what it means to be a liberated—which means integrated—human being. It is important to understand that when a human being strives to realize integrity, the struggle to come to the end of division within themselves cannot be seen in isolation, but must be recognized as being nonseparate from the evolutionary struggle that the whole race is lost in. Indeed, the one who sincerely aspires for Liberation must struggle with the very same forces within themselves that keep humanity divided against itself. Victory in the quest for Liberation is the attainment of a final integrity. And that attainment is dependent upon the discovery of a fundamental perfection that is always there, if only one had the eyes to see it. The essence of that perfection is order, the fundamental order of the universe itself. The one who is victorious has recognized their own identity as nonseparate from that perfection/order. It is through the direct experiential discovery of that perfection/order that Liberation from a deeply divided condition is won. And it is through that discovery alone that one ceases to blindly struggle. Against what? Against the fundamental perfection/order that has always been there. The fact is that few come upon this perfection/order for more than brief moments. And of those who do, there are even fewer who realize the vision of this perfection/order to such a degree that their own lives are able to demonstrate a seamless expression of it. From a spiritual perspective, the implications of integrity are always multidimensional because not only does integrity correspond to the individual’s moral and ethical relationship to life, but it simultaneously also corresponds to the depth of that ­individual’s knowledge of the inherent perfection/order that lies at the root of all that is. The attainment of a final integrity proves that it is ­ possible to become a liberated human being—a liberated human being in a world where for the most part the human condition is and has been an expression of the very opposite of that.
