Being the Face of your own True Self
drawn to her because you recognize her to be a living, breathing embodiment of Spirit. When you are in her presence, you intuitive- ly know that she is the face of your True Self; the portal to your own Source Condition – and you want to be in her company all the time. In due course, a deep bond of love is forged between yourself and your guru that spontaneously turns most other concerns into matters of lesser importance. In the extraordinary intimacy of this devotional relationship, you begin to forget yourself, and the force of love begins to supercharge your awakening process. As a living instrument of Spirit, the relationship with the guru serves as an ar- chetype of the I-Thou relationship. By being in relationship to that which is greater than yourself, the egoic self-sense yields, paving the way for radical ego-transcendence to emerge. The separate self begins to melt, and as it is released, it slowly makes space for the True Self to shine forth. Being a clear mirror, reflecting all of who you are As you live out this sacred relationship and interact daily with the living divine presence in your guru, you will notice that an authentic master is free and unselfconscious. He or she is like a clear mirror, reflecting back to you all the areas within yourself where you are still unfree. By simply relating to the guru, you sense her liberated condition, and you come up against all your self-contractions, your stuckness and your self-consciousness. But it also reveals to you your own higher possibilities for growth and your infinite potential for liberation.
